Leave a Gift in your Will
Blue Skies Hospitals Fund provides vital improvements that sit outside standard NHS provisions. From cutting-edge equipment and modernised facilities to wellbeing projects, the charity creates more comforting, dignified environments for patients and their families. One of the most powerful ways to support this mission is through a gift left in a Will.
Legacies empower Blue Skies Hospitals Fund to enhance the services and quality of care at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. Whether a gift is a few hundred pounds or several thousand, every contribution is immensely valued.
“Because legacy gifts often arrive in the future, theyprovide us with the stability to plan ahead with confidence. This financial security gives the charity the flexibility to invest in meaningful, long-term projects that will benefit our patients and their loved ones for years to come.”
Kila Redfearn, Head of Charity at Blue Skies Hospitals Fund
Leaving a gift to Blue Skies is straightforward; a simple instruction within a Will is all it takes. It is advisable to include the charity’s full name, address, and registered charity number, and to consult a solicitor when preparing or updating your documents.
Having a Will ensures your final wishes are respected and your loved ones are provided for. Without one, the state decides how an estate is distributed. Furthermore, gifts to UK charities like Blue Skies Hospitals Fund are exempt from Inheritance Tax, meaning the full value of your bequest goes directly to the cause.

“Past legacies have allowed Blue Skies Hospitals Fund to deliver tangible improvements across the Trust,” Kila continues. “Thanks to these acts of generosity, we have funded RITA (Reminiscence Interactive Therapy Activities) systems for dementia patients, fold-down beds for overnight guests, and artwork that creates a calmer hospital environment. We’ve also provided comfortable seating and bedside TVs to offer distraction and comfort during recovery. Each of these enhancements makes a genuine difference during a patient’s most vulnerable moments.” One of the most transformative legacy-funded projects was the purchase of a CT Scanner for the Emergency Village. This investment has drastically improved access to urgent imaging, reducing waiting times and speeding up diagnoses. For stroke patients, where every second counts, this faster access can dramatically improve recovery outcomes. This single legacy has already provided life-saving care to countless local people.
Every gift left to Blue Skies Hospitals Fund becomes part of a lasting commitment to exceptional
local healthcare. These extraordinary gestures ensure the charity can continue enhancing the patient experience today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
